Newcastle United are tracking Swindon striker Simon Cox.

The Evening Chronicle says United assistant boss Colin Calderwood saw him net a hat-trick against Northampton on Tuesday night.

Former Cobblers boss Calderwood is the latest top-flight boss to check out Cox, the 21-year-old forward who has scored 27 goals so far this season.

His scouting mission is further evidence of United's desire to recruit up-and-coming Championship players over the summer.
