Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper is on Tottenham's shopping list.

The People says Newcastle are bracing themselves for a January Spurs swoop for one of their goalkeepers and interim boss Joe Kinnear has already warned Harry Redknapp off No1 Shay Given.

Undeterred, the Spurs boss has switched his attention to No 2 Harper. Newcastle are aware of this and are sending their third choice keeper Tim Krul on loan to Carlisle to toughen him up should he be required as deputy to Given.
