Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper is expected to be sidelined for about 12 weeks with a shoulder injury.
The 35-year old was felled by a Jermaine Beckford challenge in the Magpies' 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park last weekend and will now be out for about three months after undergoing surgery according to a club statement.
"Following a shoulder ligament injury sustained in United's game against Everton last Saturday, Steve Harper has undergone a successful operation which took place yesterday. It is likely that Steve will be unavailable for selection for a period of around 12 weeks," the statement read.
