Newcastle keeper Elliot ready to step in for Krul

Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot says he's ready should Tim Krul fail to recover from a knock suffered in victory over Norwich City.

The former Charlton Athletic keeper knows how important it is for United that Krul stays fit after picking up a knock this week.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "Hopefully Tim will be alright because it'd be a shame for him to miss a game because he's done so well, but if not then that I'll be ready to come in and hopefully do well for the team."
