Newcastle United have joined the battle for Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Ajax chief Marc Overmars has confirmed an approach from Liverpool in recent weeks, while Tottenham have also been linked.

ANP says Newcastle have now joined the Premier League scramble for Eriksen.

Toon have been following Eriksen since his time at Odense BK and was turned down by the Dane as a teenager.
