Newcastle Jets young gun Kantarovski excited about return

Newcastle Jets youngster Ben Kantarovski cannot wait to get back in the gold shirt of the Hunter Valley club. The star midfielder has not played for the A-League outfit for over a month as he has been away on Young Socceroos duty but tomorrow night against the North Queensland Fury at home, Kantarovski will be on the pitch as the renaissance club strives for positive results on-field.

Kantarovski admitted times were exciting at the Jets following the change of ownership to mining and racing magnate Nathan Tinkler and a number of other off-field projects which are sure to benefit football in Newcastle.

"I had been looking forward to coming back since the day we went away," Kantarovski told the Newcastle Herald.

"So much has happened. It is very exciting. As soon as Nathan took over there was a completely different vibe.

"Now it has grown even more. There is so much excitement and a real buzz about the place."

And Kantarovski said the prospect of being on the same pitch as international superstar David Beckham next month was a dream to to come true.

"The Beckham thing, I thought it was media spe "Then it turned out that it was really happening. It is a dream come true. Growing up I would watch SBS and see Beckham scoring free kicks and playing Champions League. I have read his books, had posters of him on my wall . . . it's huge him coming to Newcastle."
