Newcastle Jets CEO John Tsatsimas has denied the club has a discipline problem despite two red cards on the weekend. Joel Griffiths was sent off after kicking out at Wellington Phoenix's Karl Dodd whilst defender Mark Milligan was given a spell after a double-footed lunge.
The weekend's loss saw the Jets fall to seventh on the A-League table but Tsatsimas was refusing to give up on the club's title defense.
"Joel's a professional and he knows when certain things are out of order," Tsatsimas said.
"He's a senior player and his performances for the club have reflected that by and large so I think this is more of a blip than anything more serious for Joel.
"Obviously it is not an ideal situation," he added.
"Our season is far from over at this point, despite all that has happened we're just two wins outside the top four so it's really a bit early to call it quits on the season.
"It is a concern but when you see the matters in isolation, you don't condone their actions, but they're just the actions of individuals at that point in time.
"The team is under a lot of pressure at the moment and everyone is feeling it.
"Now is the time for the team to find their resolve."
