Newcastle Jets have made a fresh approach for former Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke. The 38-year old decided not to make the move in November when the Jets first approached, preferring to focus on World Cup qualifiers with Trinidad and Tobago.
But with the marquee offering for Italian playmaker Fabio Vignaroli catching a few snags, the Jets have targeted Yorke as their fall-back plan.
Jets technical director Branko Culina was non-committal in his replies regarding Yorke's playing status.
"I was aware there were some discussions previously with Dwight, but that has not been raised as yet," Culina said.
"Yorke was a huge influence at Sydney FC but that was four years ago. Sydney is a different proposition to Newcastle.
"Players like that are terrific for the game and I am sure they have a lot to offer.
"You have to look at your own situation and see whether it is feasible."
