Newcastle Jets secure services of Zadkovich from Derby County

Newcastle Jets have received a major boost with the news that Ruben Zadkovich has signed a three-year deal with the club.

The talented 23-year old midfielder will return from English club Derby County where he experienced an injury-riddled year-and-a-half.

Zadkovich was released by the Rams in January and will now be hoping to get himself back to full fitness ahead of the next A-League season.

"It was a good opportunity here," said Zadkovich. "It's a good, solid team here and it's a great place, Newcastle. And I've worked with Branko (Culina) before so I know what to expect. I'm really happy to be here.

"It's just good to have that security to put pen to paper with a team that has been doing very well. They had a good season last year and I feel like I can add something, so I'm looking forward to joining the team for as long as possible.

"I've gained a lot (being overseas), it's a different ball game over there, very competitive, for the fans it's more like a religion over there, but I learned a lot and played with a lot of good players.

"Hopefully I can bring some of that experience back here."

Zadkovich has also had a stint with other English clubs Queens Park Rangers (2004/05) and Notts County (2005) before he joined Sydney FC in 2006 and has represented Australia at U20, U23 and senior level.
