Newcastle Jets play down Millwall interest in Zadkovich

Newcastle Jets CEO Robbie Middleby has denied claims that Millwall were set to open talks with club captain Ruben Zadkovich.

Newcastle Jets CEO Robbie Middleby has denied claims that Millwall were set to open talks with club captain Ruben Zadkovich.

The 27-year old midfielder, who was a part of Australia’s East Asian Cup squad, is being linked with a possible move to the Championship club but Middleby said in a statement that there had been no contact from the South London outfit.

"Ruben was scheduled to have a week off following his commitments with the Socceroos," Middleby said in a written statement released by the Jets.

"He asked for the opportunity to take up Millwall's offer of a visit during this time and we have accommodated that request.

"At this stage, we have not received any formal offer for Ruben and he remains a Newcastle Jets player."
