English Premier League veteran Kevin Phillips has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for A-League club Newcastle Jets.
The 37-year old Birmingham City man is out of favour under Alex McLeish at St Andrews and has stated that he is keen to move on to gain regular first team football.
News is that the Jets asked about the former Sunderland star but coach Branko Culina has since revealed to 442.com.au that Birmingham politely declined a potential transfer.
"We've inquired, and that's where it's at. We inquired with his club and they told us they won't be releasing him," Culina said.
