The Newcastle Jets have described rumours linking them to former English Premier League striker Bobby Zamora as 'purely speculative'.
fourfourtwo.com reported that Zamora had been offered to the Jets following his recent release from QPR.
However, Jets CEO Mitchell Murphy was quick to hose down speculation linking the Jets to the 34-year-old striker.
"Newcastle Jets are working diligently to identify players who fit the club's key criteria and budget to join the squad," Murphy said.
"This process is being led by head coach Scott Miller and senior assistant coach Jean-Paul de Marigny.
"Any suggestion that Zamora is set to join the Jets is, at this point at least, purely speculative."
34-year old Zamora, who played twice for England, scored 47 Premier League goals in more than 250 appearances for Fulham, West Ham United and the R's. He has also spent time with Tottenham, Bristol Rovers, Bath City and Brighton & Hove Albion.
