Newcastle Jets wide midfielder Jeremy Brockie says he cannot wait for the 2011/12 Hyundai A-League season to start.
The New Zealand international cannot remember such a long pre-season with the A-League schedule getting put back to October 8 and he insists that all the players in the squad are chomping at the bit for things to kick off against Melbourne Heart at Ausgrid Stadium on opening weekend.
"Pre-season has been very long, about 25 weeks by the time the season starts, so I'm hanging out for the 8th of October," he told tribalfootball.com.
"Along with the rest of the Newcastle boys, I've worked very hard in pre-season and am in the best shape of my life, I'm hoping to be a key player for the Jets this year."
As for some of the Jets' new recruits, Brockie says things are looking good with the likes of Jason Culina and Brazilian defender Tiago now fully involved.
"Everyone is looking great, Jason is back fully training after his injury and is getting stuck into things," he added.
"Tiago has settled in very quickly and looks like he will be very solid for us. With the players the management has brought in, we are confident of being right in there with a chance come finals time."
