Newcastle Jets are expressing interest in three overseas players for a possible guest stint. Jets director of football, Remo Nogarotto, flew to Rome yesterday to undergo negotiations with the three players.
"There are three irons in the fire," Nogarotto told The Herald before departing Sydney yesterday.
"All are European players and all are number nines (strikers).
"I do not think we are close with any of the three, but let's hope things have moved along since the initial talks.
"(Jets coach) Branko (Culina) has made it pretty clear to me that he wants the player here by next week.
"The player is either here or we move on."
