Newcastle Jets' Brockie gutted for NZ earthquake victims

Jeremy Brockie was thankful none of his family or friends were involved in Tuesday's earthquake in Christchurch.

The Newcastle Jets forward and New Zealand international was absolutely gutted to see the devastation that a second tremor in five months has caused the Canterbury region but said it was great to hear some survival stories and the fact that other countries had come to the island nation's aide.

"It's very devastating and heartbreaking for the place where I was born," Brockie told tribalfootball.com.

"Personally, I have no family or friends involved but I feel for all the injured and the families of those more unfortunate that has come from this disaster.

"It's good to hear some survival stories which bring a smile to your face in such hard times.

"It's great to have all the support from Australians and other rescue teams from around the world and I just hope that the worst of this disaster for New Zealand is behind us."
