Newcastle Jets after more signings but limited room left in salary cap

The Newcastle Jets are after a couple more players to fully strengthen their playing squad but coach Branko Culina is unsure what he has got left to use in regards to the salary cap.

The Jets have already brought in a few new players, namely Kasey Wehrman, Ruben Zadkovich and Jeremy Brockie, and have also re-signed Ali Abbas and Ljubo Milicevic to new deals but Culina is still targeting more recruits.

However, he is aware that the salary cap is running out and has to wait and see what type of player(s) he can afford.

"I am waiting for John [Tsatsimas] and the club to give me the go ahead that we do have money to spend," he told the Newcastle Herald. "There is no point having these plans to find out they are to no avail because you haven't got the dough.

"I have seen enough games in Australia and enough DVDs over the last couple of weeks to keep me going for the next six months.

"But I can't do anything until they tell me we have x, y, z in the cap and this is who we can get."

Culina is planning to bring in a few potential signings to cast an eye over when pre-season training commences in a couple of weeks time.
