Newcastle United are in a strong position to sign Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Liverpool in 2013 and since then has made a name for himself in the Premier League.
He has scored ten goals in 95 games for Swansea, and earlier this season, he was called up to the England national team.
According to the report, however, he wants to leave the Welsh club following the sacking of Garry Monk and he would be willing to listen to offers from Newcastle despite their struggles this season.
