Newcastle United management is delighted with the approach of Cheik Tiote in the wake of the crisis in his native Ivory Coast.
Toon No2 John Carver said the Ivorian had been a credit to his profession by getting his head down and training hard, despite the turmoil surrounding his home.
Carver told the Evening Chronicle: "He has been a true professional and refused to let it get in the way of his job. "We know he has family there and it must have been difficult for him, but he hasn't let it show.
"It's a credit to him, you wouldn't realise unless you knew. We all wish him the best."
