Newcastle United are moving to beat Premier League heavyweights to the signing of Eibar defender Florent Lejeune.

Marca says Arsenal and Tottenham have been following Lejeune this season.

However, Newcastle are ready to make the first concrete bid for the centre-half. Lejeune's deal carries a €10 million buyout clause - which the Toon are willing to match.

Newcastle's move could flush out rival interest from Spurs and Arsenal.

Lejeune was tied to Manchester City, though was sold to Eibar last summer.
