Newcastle United acted swiftly after Alan Pardew's dismissal yesterday during victory over Hull City.
The Mail on Sunday says Pardew was left clinging to his job as Newcastle manager after the club fined him £100,000 and reprimanded him for headbutting a Hull player during an astonishing touchline bust-up earlier in the day.
Pardew, 52, will be charged by the Football Association and faces a ban for the rest of the season after his extraordinary assault on David Meyler, which saw the Newcastle manager sent to the stands.
Pardew made an immediate and unconditional apology after he headbutted the Irish midfielder in full view of 25,000 fans.
