Newcastle United hero Mick Quinn is happy seeing Ayoze Perez sign new terms.

Quinn wrote in the Evening Chronicle: "Newcastle United have done an important piece of business in securing Ayoze Perez to a long-term deal - now it's time for the club to nurture him and allow him to blossom into the fantastic player he has the potential to be.

"I've written a few times in this column about how I believe Perez needs to kick on, and I still maintain that.

"He is exceptionally talented - he can shoot, bring teammates into play, harry opposition defenders and do wonderful things with the ball - but he is not consistent enough yet."
