Newcastle United hero Mick Quinn has blasted the current players.

There are reports if Steve McClaren steaming into the players this week after defeat to Leicester City.

And Quinn told talkSPORT: "He needed to get stuck into the players because the performance against Leicester at the weekend was pitiful.

“Now, fans pay their money and are entitled to a moan, but even I saw in that game that there were players just walking around. Their attitude stunk, their defending was poor and Leicester basically strolled to victory.

“It looks like the players aren't getting McClaren's message, they're not taking it on board, so the manager has got every right to get stuck into the players.

"If that's upset one or two of the team, I don't care, because it didn't look like they cared at the weekend."
