Newcastle United hero Rob Lee says his old club need to spend big to survive in next season's Premiership.
The Toon's promotion was confirmed after victory over Sheffield United.
"They are back where they belong which is fantastic and I am ecstatic for them because it is where they should be,” Lee told the Telegraph. “The only thing is that I hope they get resources to buy some players to improve our squad because if they don’t it could be Newcastle United struggling again.
“They are a Premier League club and I just hope now that they get the money and resources to push them back and try to get somewhere near where we were ten or 15 years ago.
“In the back of the fans’ minds they want the club to push on now and spend some money in the summer and make the squad stronger and make it a Premier League club like we should be.”
