Newcastle United hero Warren Barton is full of praise for DeAndre Yedlin.

Yedlin has been the club's first choice right-back since he joined in 2016 and has made a marked improvement defensively under Rafa Benitez.

"I like him," Barton told the 'Coming Home Newcastle' podcast.

"Obviously when he was with the enemy at Sunderland he learned how to defend because that was all they had to do, they couldn't do anything else. He has learned his trade.

"When he was at Seattle, I always liked him there. He was a bit naive with his defending but I would love to chat to him and speak to him about the game.

"He is growing up now and is getting more experience but I think he needs to work on his delivery because sometimes his mind is working as quick as his legs when he gets in the final third."
