Newcastle United are monitoring Douglas' situation at FC Twente.
The Evening Chronicle says they do still retain an interest in FC Twente star Douglas, yet the Brazilian-born player is considering running his contract down.
Unless the Dutch club drop their demands in terms of a transfer fee, Newcastle will look again at the situation when he is a free agent.
