Newcastle United will shop in France for a new striker in January.
French sources say Toon are keeping tabs on Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga and also are tracking long-term target Mevlut Erdinc, the PSG centre-forward.
Newcastle chief scout Graham Carr has watched Maiga twice in recent weeks.
They failed with a €9 million offer for the Mali international in August, but will try again when the transfer market reopens in January.
