Newcastle United boss Kevin Keegan is ready to complete the signing of Liverpool defender John Arne Riise.

Keegan hopes an offer of £5 million will be enough to land the Norway international.

Riise was hoping for a new deal at Liverpool as his current terms run out in 2009.

But Rafa Benitez has shown no intention of opening negotiations leading the out-of-favour left-back to look elsewhere.
