Newcastle United are splashing out £9.25 million for Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The France international is finalising personal terms and is expected to sign within 24 hours.

Marseille president Vincent Labrune said: "We have an agreement in principle with Newcastle. We have therefore given Loic permission to chat with them."

Remy, 26, will arrive at St James' Park on a long-term, £40,000-a-week deal after Newcastle headed off interest from QPR and German champions Borussia Dortmund.
