Newcastle have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Montpellier midfielder Ryad Boudebouz.

Foot Mercato claims that Ligue 1 club Lyon have pulled out of the race leaving the Magpies in the pole position to sign the 27-year-old.

The Algeria international, who scored 11 goals and provided nine assists last season, is valued at £13m by Montpellier.

Lazio and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.
