Danny Simpson says Newcastle United's derby win is proof the players want manager Chris Hughton handed a long-term contract.
It is a performance that Simpson hopes will put rumours about Hughton's position to bed.
"I think Sunday was the high point of my career. Everyone wants to win the derby but to win 5-1 at St James' Park was incredible. It means so much to everyone," he told The Journal.
"I just hope that answers a few questions about the manager. I've worked with Chris for a year and a half.
"I'll always be grateful to him for bringing me in.
"He's got respect for everyone - he treats his players with respect and he gets it back.
"I think in football it works both ways and Chris has got the right balance.
"We all fight for him on the pitch, you can see that. We want to win for him and that's because of the way he treats us."
