Newcastle United fullback Shane Ferguson is grateful to manager Alan Pardew for his support last season.

Pardew never forgot Ferguson while he was battling injury and handed the Ulsterman a late season return.

Ferguson told the Evening Chronicle: "The manager has shown a lot of faith in me.

"That is great to have as a player.

"I came back from injury last season and when I was ready he threw me in.

"When you are at a club like Newcastle where there are so many international players it is always a good feeling."
