Newcastle flop Guivarc'h slates Daily Mail, English football

Former Newcastle United striker Stephane Guivarc'h has launched a furious attack on the Daily Mail and English football.

The Daily Mail named the World Cup winner as the worst striker to grace the Premiership and in his column for 10 Sport, Guivarc'h hit back.

"It really is a crap newspaper. How can we judge this? At Newcastle, I've only played four matches, including two as a starter. And I scored once against Liverpool.

"After two games, Kenny Dalglish, who signed me and wanted me to turn around Alan Shearer, was fired. Ruud Gullit arrived and put me on the shelf.

"This survey of the Daily Mail, I do not care about.

"In fact, the English, what have they won since the World Cup in 1966?

"They may have invented football, but they had better focus on their national team because it has not really progressed for a long time."
