Newcastle fans staged their mass exodus in Ashley protest

Newcastle United's fans carried out their threat of a mass exodus of St James' Park in protest during victory over Cardiff City.

Toon fans protested against owner Mike Ashley and manager Alan Pardew during their final home match of the season.

The Toon Army left the stadium in their thousands on 69 minutes as they called for Ashley to leave the club and Pardew to be sacked.

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust had encouraged fans to walk out during the game against Cardiff City.

The significance of the 69th minute is that the club last won a trophy in 1969, the year of their Fairs Cup triumph.
