Newcastle United management are quietly confident Sylvain Marveaux can play again this season.

The Evening Chronicle says Marveaux is getting closer to a return before the season's end.

He was expected to miss the entire campaign with a groin injury but his progress has encouraged the backroom staff enough to believe he can play a part in the last chunk of matches.
