Newcastle became one of the biggest casualties in the second round of Carabao Cup as they lost 3-2 to Nottingham Forest after extra time.
The Magpies took an early lead through Aleksandar Mitrovic in the third minute, but soon after the visitors were in the lead on the back of Jesse Cummings' quick-fire brace.
Rolando Aarons drew the much-changed Magpies level in the extra time of the first half, but none of the sides managed to find the net in the second half.
Forest substitute Tyler Walker proved to be the winner for his side as he struck from close range in the eighth minute of the extra-time.
