Newcastle face Roma competition for Aubameyang

Newcastle United risk being crowded out in the race for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Evening Chronicle says it is understood that Dortmund are willing to let go of the Gabon international for €8million.

United scouted Aubameyang heavily last time around, but are yet to pounce on the player.

The Gabon international's representative Oscar Damiani said that AS Rome supremo Walter Sabatini is interested in taking him to Serie A.

He said: "Sabatini likes him, but it would be very difficult to lure him away from Borussia Dortmund because he has a long contract.

"However, he would like to return to Italy."
