Newcastle United face a massive compo bill for Crystal Palace fullback Nathaniel Clyne.
The Mirror says Clyne is out of contract at Selhurst Park and Pardew wants him at the Magpies this summer - where he has a chance of going straight into the first team.
Pardew fears Danny Simpson, who has a year left on his deal, will be sold on, so Clyne could quickly become first choice.
Palace may ask up to £5million at a tribunal but Toon are unlikely to wear that, putting the clubs on a collision course.
