Newcastle United are believed to be showing interest in Spanish youngster Jorge Mere.

The 17-year old Sporting Gijon defender has emerged on the radar of the Magpies who are being linked with a number of young guns this winter.

Spain U19 international Mere is seen by the Toon as a player for the future and the Chronicle suggests they may make a move for his services before the end of the current window.
