Newcastle United are weighing up a bid for Sochaux attacker Cedric Bakambu.

L'Equipe says Newcastle approached Sochaux yesterday to discuss Bakambu's availability.

The midfielder can also play in attack and local reports say Newcastle see him as a readymade replacement for Yohan Cabaye.
