Newcastle United are pondering a summer move for Liverpool's Stewart Downing.
The 29-year old former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa winger has failed to deliver since his £18million shift to Anfield in the summer of 2011 and could be moved on by Brendan Rodgers.
The Toon are showing interest in Downing, who turned down a move to West Ham United recently, but only want to pay around £5m whilst the Reds seek closer to £8m.
