Newcastle United are watching Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
The Evening Chronicle says Alan Pardew is eager to bolster competition in his goalkeeper ranks and United are aware that Schmeichel will see his contract come to an end next summer.
The son of great Dane Peter Schmeichel will be available on a free transfer and is on a list of options along with Watford youngster Jonathan Bond, who came close to joining United last summer, and the slightly more expensive option of PSV Eindhoven keeper Jeroen Zoet.
