Newcastle eyeing Celtic star Izaguirre

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race for Celtic star defender Emilio Izaguirre. The 25-year old Honduran international has attracted plenty of interest following his impressive debut season in Scotland which yielded him a number of awards including the Scottish Premier League Player of the Year.

Already Liverpool have shown considerable interest and now Alan Pardew and his Magpies are on the scene as they look to bring in reinforcements ahead of next season.

Pardew fears he may lose current left-back Jose Enrique and is searching for an apt replacement. The Toon feel he fits that bill after scouts were able to watch the former Motagua man on a number of occasions whilst they were keeping an eye on Celtic loanee Fraser Forster.

Reports suggest that Newcastle will start the bidding at £2.5million but Celtic will surely want more than that for the man they purchased for £600,000 last summer.
