Newcastle eyeing Anderlecht defender Mbodji

Newcastle United are currently plotting a move for Anderlecht centre-back Kara Mbodji, according to reports from the Chronicle.

United are widely expected to be strengthening their squad during the upcoming January transfer window and reports have claimed that the Magpies are currently eyeing a move for Mbodji, who could be available for around £10million.

His agent Ediz Balkan has confirmed interest in Mbodji from clubs in England by saying: "Kara has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League sides, we held talks with representatives from those clubs in London last Sunday.

"There are six or seven clubs from the Premier League in talks but I can't reveal the offers right now. There is also interest from Italy and Spain while the big three in Turkey have also held talks."
