Newcastle United are reportedly preparing to swoop for unsettled Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

Shelvey was seen getting involved in a verbal altercation with a Swans fans following his side's 3-2 loss to League Two outfit Oxford United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The incident fuelled speculation Shelvey is unhappy at the Liberty Stadium and will look to move during the January transfer window.

The Daily Mail is reporting Newcastle are preparing a £10million bid to lure Shelvey to St James' Park this month and it is understood Swansea will not stand in the 23-year-old's way should such a deal come to fruition.
