Newcastle United assistant coach John Carver expects to have Papiss Demba Cisse available for this weekend's Tyne-Wear derby.
The Toon host Sunderland at Sports Direct Arena on Sunday and the Senegal striker is likely to take his place in the side despite suffering a groin injury in the weekend's 2-2 draw with Wolves.
"He had a problem with his groin, he hasn't trained yet. He didn't train on Wednesday and I think the fortunate thing is that we have the extra day with the game being on Sunday.""He should be OK," Carver told The Journal.
And Carver said he will ensure that new boy Cisse is well aware of the importance of the Newcastle v Sunderland derby.
"By the time we get to Sunday he'll have a good idea, don't worry about that.""We've got a few new additions, Papiss in particular. He's finding it hard enough to understand what I'm saying at the minute, no matter what this game means," he added.
