Newcastle United are expecting striker Mark Viduka to be a major player as the Magpies fight for survival in the English Premier League. The Socceroos front man has struggled with injury this season but assistant coach Chris Hughton has said when Viduka is a fit, he can play a very important role.

"Mark has a very big role to play for us," Hughton said.

"(The players) regardless of what part they play, have a contribution to make and that's the same for Mark. We are certainly much better off with a fully-fit Mark Viduka than without him."
