Newcastle eager for more talks with Amanda Staveley about sale

Newcastle United are eager for more talks with British financier Amanda Staveley about a mooted takeover.

The Evening Chronicle says while Staveley's group have not signed a non-disclosure agreement like four other parties, United are receptive to further talks in due course.

Further discussions would include getting Mike Ashley around the table as the owner tries to fathom out who the serious players are with the club up for sale.

Reports from the capital that Turkish billionaire Murat Ulker is in with a shout of buying the club have been played down.

Staveley - who is leading a Middle East group worth £30 billion - is thought to be interesting in the prospect of purchasing either a stake in the club or potential buyout.
