The left-back himself vowed to open talks with the Magpies the moment that Premier League safety was concerned and Pardew is keen to hold the Spaniard to his promise.
Enrique has been unsettled since January and the situation was hardly helped when Liverpool legend Phil Thompson claimed on a Norwegian TV channel that a transfer to Anfield for Enrique was a "done deal" in April.
