Newcastle United are lining up a bid for Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.

Italian sources say Toon chiefs had Praet scouted on Sunday for Samp's clash with Benevento.

Sportitalia reports the Belgium international is a late market target for desperate Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez.

Among the delegation at the Marassi included Toon directors cleared to negotiate with Samp about a fee for the midfielder.

Newcastle hope to sign Praet for around €15m.
