Newcastle defender Williamson pleased with belated Premiership debut

Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson says there's plenty of improvement needed after their defeat at Manchester United.

A 26, Williamson finally made his Premier League debut after a half-a-season in exile as a top-flight player with Portsmouth last season.

Reflecting on the experience, Williamson told the Evening Chronicle: "It was my first game in the Premier League, and I was happy to come to such a brilliant stadium.

"The adrenalin was going, and it was amazing.

"It's been overshadowed by the result a little bit. I suppose you need to recap and look at the negatives, take the positives, and kick on for next week."
